The Daily Take: Indians Struggling vs. West/Draft Review

The Indians are 2-6 in their last 8 games but its hard to find one source to put all the blame on.  Before, you could say the hitting is lousy and maybe you could try to say the pitching is lousy now, but neither would be correct.  Neither one has been great, but the problems are inconsistency.  Its been 5 games in a row that have been decided by 1 run.  If anything, maybe its just bad luck

Prospect Wrap-Up

Draft day is coming quick...and I did not finish the scouting reports I wanted too.  So instead, since the draft is close, I will combine all of the key ones into one post (and shorten the reports).  First one will be Kawhi Leonard.

The Daily Take: Camp Colt and Carlos Carrasco

The Indians two hispanic pitchers at the top of the rotation have been a tale of opposites recently.  While the Indians' veteran (for this team at least) ace has been struggling mightily, their pitcher who was at #2 to start the season has been completely dominant.

Jonas Valanciunas

Jonas Valanciunas is a Euro player who quite possibly could go to the Cavs.  Quite a few sources have linked Valanciunas to the Cavs at #4.  He is a european big man with high upside, two things that quite possibly will appeal to the Cavs.  Chris Grant has said this team could use bigger players.

Take By the Lake: Series over, Indians in 2nd.

First of all, Dallas won the Finals.  I am very happy.  First of all, I predicted a win and second I was pulling for them besides that.  Its just nice to see the Heat fans suffered through what Cleveland fans have suffered over the years: a passive Lebron who doesn't know what to do in crunch time and wilts under pressure.  We saw it against Boston, we saw it against San Antonio and we saw it again against Dallas.  He did have his spectacular showing against Orlando, but before that there was still talk of him not stepping it up.  As it stands, he only stepped it up for one series.

Take By The Lake: Dire Situation for the Heat, Indians

Indians suck right now.  Its pretty clear, they are just not playing well.  They have lost 3 in a row (again) and have lost 8 of their last 10.  They need to win their next 2 games just to split the series against the Yankees.  How are they doing so poorly?  They find a new way to lose every night these days.

Chris Singleton

Chris Singleton is an intriguing player for the Cavs to go after and would fill a big need and could contribute right away.  Singleton may not have incredible upside, but he can come in and become a very good starter from day 1 at the Small Forward position.  I think the guy is a little underrated by some, mostly because he didn't become a good shooter until this season but you can always improve your shooting (even Lebron was a bad shooter when he first came into the league).

The Daily Take: Indians Lose Ground and is Plaxico Coming to Cleveland?

First off, game 5 of the Finals is coming up.  I said that to win, Dallas had to get big performances out of their supporting cast.  Well, they did.  Kidd didn't do a lot of scoring, but played good D.  Marion, Barea, and Terry combined to score 41 points and shot 47% from the field.  The big storyline was how Dirk had a fever but still played his heart out.  Its clear that his teammates realized they needed to step it up because of the illness.  Even Chandler got in on the action, scoring 13 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

The Daily Take: Indians and Mavs Crashing to Earth

The Mavericks lost a close one at home against the Heat.  Although people have talked about the questionable call on the Chalmers shot at the end of the first half, but Dallas just didn't step it up.  Dirk certainly stepped his game up, but you need more than just Dirk to win a series.

The Daily Take: Early Panic, Rangers have Indians' number.

First of all, I panicked.  I have always liked Dirk as a player and was worried Dallas would crumble if he was hurt.  I was wrong.  The Mavs may not be the most talented team in the playoffs or the best overall team, but they have the most heart.  This team is scrappy and has been all season.  Decimated by injuries, they have found a way to stay mentally tough and win tough games.

The Daily Take: Injuries, Injuries, Injuries

Dirk is hurt.  Thats really the big news right now.  This is going to affect the whole outcome of the series.  Personally, I may go back on my prediction, not because miami won.  In fact, I would probably pick the Heat in 7 at this point even if Dallas won last night.  Dallas needed Dirk to play like he has played in the playoffs: 50% shooting and close to 30 ppg.
